Posted on 25 March 2017
Spring is (technically) here, and with the weather warming up we’ve got you covered with the inside scoop on trends you’ll be seeing in the coming months.
The fashion forecast is calling for not only pastels, but colors that pop too! Pantone has released their ten colors of Spring and Summer in 2017. This array includes earthy tones like Hazelnut, Niagara, Greenery and Kale, and brighter colors like Primrose Yellow, Flame, and Pink Yarrow. A great way to incorporate these colors into your closet is not only through clothes, but accessories too! Our Hazel Nursing Tank has you covered for the neon pop, while our Callie Nursing Maxi Dress has all the Pink yarrow and Island Paradise you'll need to stay on top of the color trends this season.
Fall Floral has been traded in for lighter, more colorful palettes for a ‘garden’ look. Designers are incorporating these designs into shirts, jackets, dresses, and skirts. The versatility of this trend can take you from a casual daytime look with a little flair, to an evening look for any events coming up in your calendar. Everyone from Michael Kors and Tori Burch to Diane von Furstenberg made sure to take advantage of this fun and flirty print.
Shades of Blue

If you’re looking to stray from black and white, but not ready to try too bold of a look, experiment with this color! Can’t settle for something subtle? You’re in luck, neon is back on the runway and in the streets. From shirts, to dresses to leggings, there isn’t a piece of clothing you can’t find in neon. DKNY and others have made their Spring collections bright by utilizing fluorescent yellow, pink, coral and more. After Spring 2017’s Fashion Weeks around the world, the consensus is in: Khaki is back. Wearing khaki is a great way to compliment bold colors in your look. A khaki jacket can take your look from professional, to dinner party without having to change. A great khaki handbag is an investment that will go with everything in your wardrobe. Tan or nude colored heels and flats always look great with any Spring style you’re rocking.
Retro 70s and 80s
In the Fall, we saw remnants of the 1990s come back in style with chokers and flannels, this season we’re going back further. The staples of the 80s, metallic material and pouffy shoulders, are coming back in full force. Plus, hippy patterns, patchwork and crochet tops from the 70s are reemerging. These fashion trends are a great way to practice sustainable shopping. Make use of a thrift store, or a family members closet to spend little or no money at all when recreating some of these looks.
We know what you’re thinking, since when haven’t leggings been in style? Good point, but the styles of leggings are taking a turn. Athleisure is becoming more popular than ever. Now you can hit the gym, run to the store, and lounge at home all in the same clothes. Brands like Victoria’s Secret, Puma, and Fabletics are making these clothes stylish and comfortable for everyday wear. Even designers like Alexander Wang incorporated higher end leggings in to their collections.
Can’t seem to contain everything you need in your purse? Bags this season are getting bigger and bigger. What could be more perfect for a mom?! This trend is a fashion blessing in disguise – literally. You’ll be able to carry all you need for yourself and the littles ones during a day at the park. Snacks, waters, wallets, pumping supplies and more can all fit into these bags.
As always, trends are a fun way to experiment with new ideas and expand your fashion horizons but we always advocate for staying true to your personal style. Happy Spring!
