Fall 2016 Fashion Trends

Posted on 28 September 2016

As the leave change colors and the days grow shorter and colder, we begin to see the fall fashion trends emerge around us.  Fashion magazines and fashionistas have been paying close attention to designers' seasonal choices, and so has Vida Leche Amor.  Here are all the trends you need to know about, from updates on your favorite fall classics to the new styles to experiment with.

Sweaters

Warm, bulky sweaters never go out of style for fall, and are not only stylish, but extremely practical for the cold weather.  Cardigans are perfect for layering and making it easy for breastfeeding mothers to stay warm as the temperatures begin to drop.  We love to pair warm, cozy, and stylish deep v-neck cardigans with our favorite Vida Leche Amor nursing tanks for easy breastfeeding access on the colder fall and winter days.  These two, from Tommy Hilfiger's collaborative line with Gigi Hadid, TommyXGigi, and Saint Laurent are great high-end inspiration pieces to keep in mind when updating your Fall wardrobe this year.

Denim

Denim is reemerging as a major trend this fall.  While your old, favorite skinny jeans are a still relevant staple that is easy to pair with your favorite boots or heels, jeans are making a transition back to higher waistlines and wider legs.  In fact, the Huffington Post has declared "Your next jeans should be mom jeans."  Glamour has rounded up their favorite reconstructed denim looks, which add even more interest to the new jean silhouettes.  We have rounded up our favorite runway denim looks, courtesy of Vogue, which not only include high-fashion jeans inspiration, but also denim jackets, and even a breastfeeding friendly button-down denim dress.

Exposed Shoulder

The off the shoulder shirts and dresses that were popular this past summer are a continuing trend going into the fall.  Along with bootcut jeans, this look is a throwback to the 1970s.  These off the shoulder styles are a perfect option for breastfeeding moms because they are easy to pull down by nature.  In addition to the off the shoulder styles, "cold shoulder" styles with cut outs are trending for Fall 2016.

Vida Leche Amor has you covered with this versatile nursing top that can be worn off the shoulder or as a peasant top.  The smocking at the neckline allows the shirt to be pulled down for easy breastfeeding and pumping access.

Ruffles

The Fall 2016 runway was filled with every kind of ruffle from big and architectural to small and delicate.  Whether your style is bold and out there, or feminine and flirty, there is a ruffle for you this fall!

Black and Sheer

Basic black for everyday or evening wear is getting an update when mixed with sheer fabrics, including chiffon and lace.  While some of these high end runway inspiration photos are less than wearable in real life, there are many off the rack options for fall that you can style to meet your needs, including a Vida Leche Amor nursing friendly top with sheer sleeves and a Vida Leche Amor mixed crochet lace dress that will be availble in October.  If you're looking for something to boost your confidence for a night on the town, black will never go out of style.

Print Review

Fashionistas have been loving prints more than ever the past few years, and this fall is no different.  Whether wearing a more subdued print, wearing one statement print, or mixing complimentary prints, there is something new for everyone to express their personal style this fall.

Plaid

Plaid is a major trend, with plaid dresses and overcoats featured in several runway shows.  Plaid flannels are a great everyday piece to work into your wardrobe to transition your summer tank tops into fall.

Leopard

Leopard print was another highlight during New York Fashion Week, as many designers made new interpretations of this classic, empowering print.  What's more powerful than a mom dedicated to her cub?

Floral

A big print trend happening this fall is the fall floral print.  Designers are twisting this classic spring trend and making it new for fall by staying true to seasonal growing periods.  By featuring flowers that bloom during this season, the fall floral prints take on a darker color tone.

Chokers

Fashion always likes to revisit and reinvent old trends, and this fall in no different,  Chokers are making a splash and can be used to dress up almost any look.  From bold, thick chokers to dinner pieces, they can be used to elevate a look with minimal effort.  And the best part?  Since they're clasped tighter around the neck, it's harder for a baby to grab onto and pull, especially while breastfeeding.  These runway statement chokers are sure to inspire you to try (or retry!) the choker trend.

We have loved keeping track of all the fall fashion trends emerging all around us and look forward to seeing them develop as the months get colder.  Vida Leche Amor has interpreted these trends into wearable, breastfeeding and pumping friendly tops and dresses for this fall and winter, and can't wait to share them with all of you stylish moms!  Be sure to look out for our Fall and Winter 2016 line coming soon!
